This dynamic collaboration of Eames and Saarinen took first prize with their Organic Armchair at the "Organic Design in Home Furnishings" competition in 1940. Unfortunately, the material restrictions of World War II and the initially prohibitively high production costs, the prototype did not go into mass production as was the original intention of the competition.
