AKA Chaise longue a reglage continu.
Le Corbusier's obsession with the aesthetics of machines leads his designs to be precise and highly engineered as illustrated by this "Relaxing Machine". The Chaise exhibits a distinctive half-moon shape made from revolutionary steel tubing, set on an iron cradle reminiscent of bridge construction. The power of International Style design was interpreted through the French Art Deco language to produce one of the most famous pieces of furniture of the twentieth century. Although we closely associate LC with this piece, it is often overlook that it was collaboration with Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand for the 1929 Salon d'Automne in Paris.
The miniature Chaise-Longue is crafted from of chrome-plated varnished steel, leather, steel spring and rubber.
The authentic Vitra Miniature always comes in the little wooden packing box from the Vitra Design Museum Collection. |
